ROMAN GUEVARA
Devotional Reading

"Knowing God’s Will Part 1"

James 1:5-8
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

We make decisions almost everyday.

Meroong simpleng decision, at meroong mabibigat na decision.

Simple things like, when to wake up? what to wear outside? what to eat for breakfast? where to go after school or work?  These questions are simple, yet oftentimes we stumble when we are about to decide concerning them, and that’s almost everyday.

Major decisions naman include, sino ba ang magiging partner mo sa buhay? magpapakasal kanaba? san ka ba titira,? mangingibang bansa kanaba? san kana mag church? what will you do with your money? These are but some of the more burdensome things to consider in life.

In all of that, the christian is different from the unbeliever, because, before he makes a decision, he consults God.

In other words, ano ba ang "God’s will".

And how do we know kung ano God’s will? It begins with a REVELATION.

Revelation means, a message from God.

Puedeng as you read the Bible, as you listen to a Preacher, o dinaman kaya advice from Godly people.  In some occasions, even circumstances can bear the thumb print of God. Doors closing, and others opening. Put them all together, and they can be God’s message for you.

A REVELATION.

That’s why, from this verse, we gather, be prayerful. Pray for wisdom. Ipag pray mo muna ang iyong situation before you jump into any major decision. Pag gusto mo talaga ang God’s will, magpe pray kamuna.

Dahil pag God’s Will, me blessing ka lagi!

Make this your prayer for today:

Dear God in heaven, thank you for this day that you have made. Thank you that for today, I am alive, I praise you Lord, I honor you God. You deserve the highest praise and worship. Teach me Lord once again concerning your word. Make the verse and the reading for today meaningful and clear. Teach me to know your will. Give me a revelation concerning my life and ministry. Guide me Lord. Direct my path. I surrender to you today all of my burdens and concerns. Believing in my heart that you will bless and protect me, in Jesus name, amen.

ROMAN GUEVARA Devotional Reading “Pang Soap Opera”

ROMAN GUEVARA
Devotional Reading

"Pang Soap Opera"

Romans 12:19-21
Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written:

"It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Revenge.

Me soaps pag umaga. Me "dramarama" pag hapon. Me "telebabad" pag gabi.

Kung hindi pangaapi, e, paghihiganti ang tema. Isipin mo yon, almost 70 percent of what a person can watch on Philippine television, is about revenge?

Ang ganitong mga palabas ay tiyak na influenced ng mga naunang soaps in the ’80s na mula sa America. Tulad ng Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, Knots Landing, Santa Barbara, at Days of Our Lives.

And they are all about revenge, revenge, revenge.

Sometimes, kahit hindi naman tayo directly ang gumawa ng kasamaan towards people we don’t like, towards people who disappointed us, towards people who gave us pain, but we wish them ill instead. Iniisip natin minsan, na "sana" something bad will happen to other people. That is still a form of revenge.

We are reminded by todays reading, "that we should leave room for God’s wrath." Alam ng Lord ang totoo. Alam ng God ang nangyari sa atin. He is a God of justice. And in His perfect time, He will bring to people the consequences of their actions.

Furthermore, we are reminded "Do not overcome evil with evil, but with good."

Surely that is not easy. Surely to be a christian is never easy.

Make this your prayer for today:

Sweet Jesus, your name is beautiful. Your name is powerful. And I utter that name today with reverence and awe. I come to you today with humility in my heart. Knowing that I am unworthy to come to your presence. But I seek your forgiveness for all my sins. I desire to please you. To know you more, and to grow deeper in faith. Teach me Lord to be "good". To do good. And to conquer all evil with the goodness of God. Take away any desire in my heart for revenge towards other people.  I give your glory, honor and praises, in Jesus name. Amen

ROMAN GUEVARA Devotional Reading “Long Life”

ROMAN GUEVARA
Devotional Reading

"Long Life"

Proverbs 9:10-12
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer."

I was having a conversation with one of my brother’s musician the other day. And the topic was her high cholesterol. She was obviously very burdened by this matter.

And why shouldn’t she?  She’s in her late 30’s and her mother died very young as well.

At wala naring pinipiling edad.

Marami kapang gustong puntahan. Marami kapang gustong maranasan.

Kaya ang verse natin for today is for the purposes of comforting us, if ever we have fears on this subject matter.

The point being, ipagkatiwala natin sa Lord kung gano kahaba ang ating magiging buhay.

Sabi jan "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." That is what is important.  Furthermore, we are promised "that in God, are years will be many."  Nasakanya ang desisyon kung hanggang kelan tayo enrolled sa buhay na ito, at kung gano kahaba yung "many" for us and for Him.

Because people who fear God, develop maturity and wisdom. And wise people are blessed by God with "Long Life."

Make this your prayer for today:

Lord Jesus, i thank you God for you are good and your love endures forever. I praise your great name Lord because I know that you care for me. That you love me. That it is your desire to see me walking the right path, blessed by God the Father in heaven. I submit to you my fears. Including the fear of sickness, the fear of death. And i commit to follow you Lord. To put you first in my life. To fear God. Make me wise everyday. Make me more mature in my perspective and faith. I worship Lord and pray all of these things, in Jesus name, amen.

ROMAN GUEVARA Devotional Reading “Kamusta Ka Na? Part4″

ROMAN GUEVARA
Devotional Reading

"Kamusta Ka Na? Part4"

Ecclesiastes 5:19-20
Moreover,
when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy
them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work–this is a gift of
God. He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him
occupied with gladness of heart.

What
can we expect of gifted people? People who have been blessed by God
with wealth and possessions. Blessed with enjoyment. Mga taong
natatanggap at natatangkilik ang kanilang pagpapala. People who are
fulfilled. Ano ang kanilang ugali?

Based on our readings, it’s
said there "He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God
keeps him occupied with gladness of heart."

First, gifted people, they don’t grumble.

Grumbling is a worse form of complaining. Gifted people just don’t have the time for such drama.

Sabi nga "He seldom reflects on the days of his life,".

Ano ibig sabihin non?

Hindi
naman sa hindi siya nagre reflect, because that is also important. What
it means is that he doesn’t spend too much time daydreaming,
sourgraping, oversentimentalizing concerning the what-would-have-beens
of life.

What else?

Secondly, gifted people, they are busy.

Sabi nga "God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart".

Pano ka pa magko complain sa life, e busy ka doing a lot of creative and productive pursuits.

Kaya
They have time for it kasi.

But busy people, the really busy ones, they just don’t have the time for such nonsense.

Why?

Because God keeps them occupied!

And finally, number three, gifted people, they are thankful.

Alam
nila, kung ano meron sila, galing ke God. That’s why ang attitude nila
positive. Grateful sa Diyos. And they recognized God’s intervention and
provision for all of their blessings.

As a result, they love to
worship God. As a result, they spend time to pray and to read God’s
word the Bible. As a result, they give faithfully their tithes and
offerings, knowing that it is the right thing to do. As a result, they
do whatever is possible to give back to God the glory that is due his
name.

Gifted people, they are thankful

Make this your prayer for today:

Dear
Jesus, help me Lord to learn from today’s readings. Enlighten me with
your words. Renew my heart and mind. Refresh my spirit, soul and body.
Teach me Lord your ways, your truth, your will. And help me Lord to
apply these words in my daily activities. Be with me God all throughout
the week. I depend on you for guidance, for wisdom, for protection. Be
glorified in my life today, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the
Holy Spirit, in Jesus name, amen.

"Kamusta Ka Na?
Part3"

Ecclesiastes 5:19-20
Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables
him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work–this is a gift
of God. He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him
occupied with gladness of heart.

Aside from wealth and enjoyment, God gives to
people the ability to accept his lot.

The New American Standard Bible translates this as “to
receive reward.”

Because it’s one thing to earn a reward and to
actually receive on hand. It’s one thing
to be promised payment and to actually have it in your possession.

Kaya, to actually have your blessing at hand, is a
gift from God.

Diba ang saklap ng feeling that you know something
is meant to be yours but you don’t have it yet?

Then ask God for it. Because the actual enjoyment
of a blessing is also a gift from God.

Finally, the (4th) gift we find in this
passage, is, the gift of fulfillment—to be happy with one’s work or labor.

In fact, pag masaya tayo sa ating kinalalagyan, pag
yan. Because, if we are enjoying our labor, we call that fulfillment. It’s
something you really want to do.

It is my desire to see people fulfilled. To
discover where they are best suited. Ano ba yung linyang magbibigay sa kanila
ng lubos na kaligayahan sa buhay. Because work, labor, careers, are not just
about making money. It’s much much more.

It should be about becoming productive, as well as becoming
happy with life.

That too, is a gift from God.

Make this your prayer today:

Dear God, thank you for your gifts. Thank you that I
could put my hope in you for all my needs. Including my financial needs. My
personal needs. My fulfillment in life. Help me Lord to discover where I am
best suited. Where I am called to be. Where I should be. Bless me Lord today
with your wisdom. Bless me Lord today with your peace. Bless me Lord today with
your strength. Help me Lord to face today’s challenges with the anointing that
comes from your Holy Spirit. I pray these things by faith, in the name of the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, in Jesus name, amen.

ROMAN GUEVARA
Devotional Reading

"Kamusta Ka Na? Part2"

As I was reading through these verses, God reminded of at least (4) gifts that He gives to man.

Allow me to share them all to you.

First, Wealth (and Possessions).

I
remember a friend of mine saying to me "Pastor, sana madami ako pera
para mas marami pa ako matulungan."  Why did she say that? Kasi giver
siya talaga sa church nila. Pero gusto pa niyang mas marami pa
matulungan kaya she desires more wealth, more possessions.

Me kanya kanya tayong motive why we want more money. But our verse reminds us today, it’s a gift from God.

Second, Enjoyment.

Some
people can have so much but still be very unhappy. While others, having
very little material possessions, but nonetheless truly enjoying
themselves with life.

I
remember a friend of mine, coming from a very wealthy family. Kaso nga
lang, wealthy lang. Hindi sila masaya. Laging nag aaway ang
magkakapatid.

Kasi kahit
konti daw pagkain, kahit di masyado masarap, e, masaya naman.

Wealth and possessions, they are gifts from God.

The last (2) gifts will share next devotional for "Kamusta Ka Na? Part3".

Make this your prayer for today:

Dear
God, thank you Lord for this day. May you bless me and my loved ones in
everything that we will be doing. I pray for your guidance, wisdom,
protection, and favor. Anoint me Lord with your power, anoint me Lord
with the Holy Spirit. Help me to live a life that pleases you. Grant me
wealth and possesions. But also grant me the ability, the capacity to
enjoy them. In Jesus name, amen.
